LOGISTICS ADVISORY PTY LTD · Seventeen Mile Rocks, Queensland

Who we advise

This practice is built for companies that pay for freight and warehousing, not for companies that sell freight and warehousing. The distinction matters. An importer, a manufacturer and a distributor each have a different mix of inbound ocean, interstate line-haul, DC appointments and customer delivery. They do not need a catalogue. They need a reading of the network they already fund.

Importers

Import programs fail at the joins. Buying terms do not match who actually controls the cargo. The licensed broker sees the documents after the vessel has berthed. The transporter is given an ETA that the DC cannot honour. Storage and detention are treated as weather. They are not weather. They are a calendar that nobody owns.

We advise importers who want the physical path, the documentary path and the commercial terms on one map. That includes FCL and LCL into the east coast, packing and labelling that survive both Australian Border Force and the warehouse, and a briefing pack the broker can actually lodge against. We do not lodge the declaration. We design the process so the person who does lodge it is not inventing a file at the last hour.

Manufacturers

Manufacturers live with two networks that finance still books as one number: inbound materials and outbound finished goods. A single 3PL that grew with the plant is common. Rates were extended, not tested. Accessorials were accepted as seasonal. The plant can tell you where a job is in production. It often cannot tell you the cost per consignment of getting that job to a customer in another state.

A useful file for a manufacturer is a baseline that separates inbound from outbound, line-haul from exception, and plant-caused delay from carrier-caused delay. Until those are separated, a tender is theatre. After they are separated, a tender or a contract rewrite has somewhere to land. We have no interest in filling a warehouse with your slow-moving SKUs in order to look busy.

Distributors

Distributors sell service. A cheap DC in the wrong place is expensive in failed appointments and interstate line-haul. A national footprint built from leftover leases is also expensive. Network design for a distributor is a service and inventory question, not a real-estate brochure. We compare stay-put, a 3PL overflow node and a two-node design against customer geography and inbound flows. Transport, warehouse and inventory are modelled as one number. Three separate business cases that never meet are how distributors fund the wrong node.

Who we will not advise

We will not advise a carrier, a 3PL or a warehouse operator on how to sell into those clients. We will not write a pitch deck for ocean space. We will not decorate a rate card. Independence is the product. If you need someone to move the freight, we help you choose them. We do not become them, and we do not coach them to win your tender.

There is no minimum headcount and no requirement to be listed. There is a requirement that you can produce invoices and that someone in the business can own the decision. Queensland work is the home market. National work is the same practice, run from Seventeen Mile Rocks. If your problem is a missing driver tomorrow morning, call your 3PL. If your problem is that you cannot tell whether that 3PL is the right one, that is a brief we will read.

Who usually sends the brief

Operations directors who are tired of explaining storage as freight. Finance leads who can see the total and cannot see a cost per consignment. Procurement leads who have been asked to retender without a demand pack. General managers who have been shown a warehouse tour and want a number that is not the landlord's. We do not need a steering committee of twelve. We need one named owner and files that exist.

The worst briefs are slogans: transform the supply chain, need a partner, looking for end-to-end. Those sentences do not name a decision. The usable briefs name a lane, a node, a contract or a hold. We will help you name it if you are close. We will not invent a transformation program so that the sentence feels larger.
